This walk will take you around Lake Audubon starting at the Lake Audubon Pool parking lot. Stairs are involved at the Lake Thoreau dam making this section of the trail unsuitable for strollers.

  1. The walk begins at the Lake Audubon Pool parking lot. Coming out of the parking lot turn right and cross the Lake Audubon dam along Twin Branches Road so that the lake is on your right.
  2. There is an excellent view of Lake Audubon from here.
  3. Turn right at the intersection with Glade Drive and follow the asphalt trail on the right side of that road.
  4. The trail crosses the first appearance of Thrush Ridge Road. Continue along Glade Drive.
  5. The trail crosses the second appearance of Thrush Ridge Road. Continue along Glade Drive.
  6. After crossing Glade Court the trail enters a wooded area for a short distance but follows Glade Drive.
  7. After crossing Timberhead Lane turn right to follow the asphalt path on the left side of that road.
  8. Take a look at the pond next to the homes on the left.
  9. The asphalt trail turns left off of Timberhead Lane and cuts between the homes.
  10. The trail reaches Compass Point Lane. You may cross that road and take the asphalt trail down the hill if you enjoy steep hills. In that case skip step 11 and proceed to step 12. My dog preferred turning left onto the sidewalk along Compass Point Lane and walking down to Glade Drive. This route avoids the hills.
  11. Turn right and follow the narrow dirt trail along Glade Drive. This becomes a narrow asphalt trail after a short distance.
  12. The 2 routes join. Continue on the wide asphalt trail along Glade Drive.
  13. The trail crosses Quartermaster Lane. Continue along the asphalt trail with a soccer field on your right.
  14. Turn right onto the asphalt trail at the end of the soccer field and follow that trail down the hill through the woods.
  15. The trail crosses Spyglass Cove Lane. The trail on the other side of that road is slightly to the right. The trail continues down the hill and turns left as it nears Lake Audubon.
  16. Turn right at the next asphalt trail intersection and cross Snakeden Creek on the bridge.
  17. Turn right at the next asphalt trail intersection and follow that trail for a short distance along Lake Audubon.
  18. The asphalt trail turns left and goes up a hill.
  19. The trail crosses Wakerobin Lane. Continue on the trail between the homes.
  20. The trail reaches South Lakes Drive. Turn right to follow the asphalt trail along that road.
  21. The trail crosses Cedar Cove Court. Continue straight on the present trail.
  22. The trail crosses Cabots Point Lane. Continue straight on the present trail.
  23. Turn right at the next trail intersection and follow the asphalt trail into the woods away from South Lakes Drive. The trail goes behind and then between some homes.
  24. The trail goes between 2 driveways and ends at Owls Cove Lane. Turn left to follow the asphalt trail along that road.
  25. At the end of Owls Cove Lane cross Ridge Heights Road and turn left to follow the asphalt trail along that road. Just before the driveway into the school turn right to follow the asphalt trail down the hill.
  26. Near the bottom of the hill turn left and take the steps down the hill to an asphalt trail at the base of the dam.
  27. The asphalt trail turns right and goes into the woods.
  28. After crossing a bridge the asphalt trail turns right and follows Lake Audubon.
  29. An asphalt trail intersects from the left. Continue straight on the present trail. There are good views of Lake Audubon from here. There is a bench around the curve for people wishing to watch the activities on the lake.
  30. The walk ends at the Lake Audubon Pool parking lot. The ramp to the right is for RA members to launch boats on the lake.
