These are the remains of lock 2.

A deep cut had to be blasted through the rocks to connect locks 3 through 5 to the river.

Note the observation section to the left of the trail.

A short distance down the trail another trail leads down to a series of observation points over the canal. After visiting here return back via the canal trail to a point just beyond lock 1.
