The trail crosses a bridge over Mine Run. This stream furnishes water to the canal when the river level is low.

The trail splits just before an intersecting trail to the far parking lot. Continue straight along the canal.

This is the junction of the canal with the river.

A wing dam located under the rough water in the photo diverts water into the canal.

Turn around at this point and return to the visitor center to walk the southern section of this trail.
