This walk starts from the parking lot at the end of Accotink Park Road. These directions are provided for people planning to go beyond either end of Lake Accotink. If you plan to travel only the distance of Lake Accotink the directions for a loop walk around the lake are provided in another section on this site.

  1. (North) The trail leads from the northern end of the parking lot on Accotink Park Road under the railroad bridge to an asphalt trail next to the lake. Turn right on the asphalt trail as it follows the service road towards the marina.
    (South) Follow the asphalt trail along the service road to the asphalt trail just beyond the turn in the service road. Turn left to follow the asphalt trail as it passes under the railroad bridge and along the side of the parking lot. This starts the next section of the CCT.
  2. (North) Turn left onto the wooded steps at the end of the lake and follow the concrete walkway at the marina.
    (South) Turn right to follow the concrete walkway along the edge of the water and continue up the wooden steps. At the top of the steps turn right onto the asphalt trail.
  3. (North) Turn left at the end of the concrete walkway and cross the sand headed towards the pedestrian bridge. Cross the pedestrian bridge and enter a natural surface trail into the woods but following the lake shoreline.
    (South) The trail leads out of the woods and crosses a pedestrian bridge. Continue across the sand to the marina and turn right to follow the concrete walkway there.
  4. (North) A trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail.
    (South) A trail intersects from the left. Continue to the right on the present trail.
  5. (North) The trail turns sharply to the right at a scenic point next to several benches.
    (South) The trail turns sharply to the left at a scenic point next to several benches.
  6. (North) A trail intersects from the left. Continue straight on the present trail.
    (South) A trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail going up the hill.
  7. (North) A trail intersects from the left. Turn left to follow that trail along the lake.
    (South) A trail intersects from the left. Turn right to follow that trail along the lake.
  8. (North) A trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail.
    (South) A trail intersects from the left. Continue straight on the present trail.
  9. (North) A trail intersects from the left. Turn left if you wish to do a loop around the lake. To follow the CCT go straight on the present trail and follow the directions for the next section of the trail (Wakefield Park section).
    (South) Coming from the Wakefield Park section of the CCT a trail intersects from the right. Continue straight on the present trail. The trail to the right leads to Danbury Forest Drive where some street parking is available.
