This is Woodrow Wilson High School in 1952. The Tenleytown area experienced a huge construction boom after World War II and many of the students were not native to Washington, D. C. Students not within walking distance rode DC Transit to school. The fare for students was 3 cents. Families in nearby Maryland paid tuition to send their children here because of its great reputation. Despite the booming population there were no outside trailer classrooms.
My class of 1953 is celebrating its 50th reunion on October 10th through 12th in 2003. Thanks to the teachers and other administration officials who helped to give us a start in life.
